He was a comedian, actor, writer, and singer and achieved success in vaudeville, radio, film, and television. He was known for his signature arched eyebrow and cigar-smoke punctuation, which became familiar trademarks for over 75 years. Alongside his wife Gracie Allen, he formed the popular comedy duo Burns and Allen, and the pair appeared on radio, television, and film together.
